Question #277: Why can't I use the EPROM on the VCM332 when booting from on board FLASH?
Answer: In the VCM332 Documentation, it is mentioned that having installed the EPROM while booting from the FLASH may lead to data corruption. However, it would be convenient if the EPROM could be used for emergency boot situations, like beeing able to upload a new software to the FLASH, for example. In such situations, the possible data corruption can be avoided by
  • Setting up the CSOR10 for read-only access in SBC mode
  • Avoiding any write access to the address range between 0x20'000 to 0x3f'ffff in CPU mode
